From prosthetic limbs to firearms to food, 3D printing promises to change product design and distribution. But what is 3D printing exactly, how does it compare to traditional manufacturing, and why should you care? Radiant Fabrication's Kevin Harris will address these questions in an overview of the two most common methods of 3D printing, stereolithography and fused deposition modeling, while highlighting software and hardware options for interested users.

Kevin Harris, M.S., is a co-founder of Radiant Fabrication Inc. His MS degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education centered on the usability, development, and aesthetics of software systems. He has worked on collaborative search engines and, since 2004, on mobile software initially with Microsoft on the PocketPC, then at the UW-Madison Division of Information Technology ENGAGE program, and more recently at the Morgridge Institute for Research as the lead programmer on the award-winning educational game Virulent, and as the sole developer on the award-winning Bushudo: The Way of the Radical.

Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by email (sdunn@cameron.edu) or by calling 581-5447.
